Open Post: Who invented this calendar anyway?

How unfortunate.

Yes, Grantaire was fully aware that the year being longer at the mansion would logically cause seasons to drift when someone kept track of the old calendar, or at least what had been pinned down as the old calendar for convenience sake, which was almost necessary when people's arrivals weren't necessarily tied to the day they left. He hadn't given it too much thought last year, when his birthday, such that it was, arrived in spring like he was used to.

Dark, though, was unfortunate. Not inappropriate for the next notable anniversary coming up, but for this one, not at all. Of course, it wasn't as if he would have been planning much in the way of an event, Dark or no, but it would have been nice to treat himself to something or other, regardless.

Instead, he has installed himself in the game room, where he is carefully balancing dominoes on their ends to make a domino rally on the billiards table. It's a nice large flat surface, so it should work nicely. Have to keep entertained somehow.

"Fenêtre, fenêtre, fenêtre," Grantaire sweeps Dionysus a bow and walks through the doorway, "fenêtre, fenêtre..."

Dionysus gives Grantaire a kiss on the cheek and picks up the basket with his presents.

[futaille]

He smiles and continues. "Fenêtre. Fenêtre. Fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus briefly considers grabbing one of the bottles of wine he stocked this kitchen with on a previous day to take back to their room for later, and then immediately disregards that idea entirely. No matter how tired he is from making vines lug the pinball machine around earlier, the day he can't make a new bottle of wine is the day he ...dies or whatever. Not that he can die. But you get what he's meaning. Instead he squeezes Grantaire's hand and heads back out into the hall.

Grantaire squeezes Dionysus's hand back as he continues, playing with stresses. "Fenêtre. Fenêtre. Fenêtrefenêtrefenêtre."

[vineleaves]

It's really amazing how beautiful Grantaire's voice is. Once they're back in their room Dionysus flops onto the bed, on his tummy with his chin in his hands to keep listening.

[futaille]

He does a little spin next to the bed and starts to sing. "Feeeeeenêtre, fenêtre fen....être. Fenêtre, feeeeeenêtre."

[vineleaves]

"Oh well if you're going to sing it," Dionysus says before hopping up off the bed, wrapping his arms around the back of Grantaire's neck, and starts to dance with him.

[futaille]

Grantaire laughs. "Fenêtre?" Back to singing as he dances with Dionysus. "Fenêêêêêêêêtre, fenêtrefenêtrefenêtre...."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus rests his head on Grantaire's chest. He has absolutely no clue how many times Grantaire has said window by now. There's a distinct possibility he has already said it a hundred times.

[futaille]

It's thirty-five, but he hasn't been counting either. He's pretty sure he's not at a hundred yet, though, so he continues, wrapping his arms around Dionysus. "Fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre..."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus shifts to take Grantaire's hand and lifts it to twirl him around. It's not the easiest thing, given their height difference, but it's not completely awkward at least.

[futaille]

He laughs and ducks his head just a bit as he twirls. "Fenêtre, feeeeeeenêtre, fenêtre fenêtre. Fe. Nêt. Re."

[vineleaves]

He catches Grantaire in a kiss, but it's a very short kiss as to not interrupt the fenêtre-ing.

[futaille]

Well, if we're going to do that... "Fenêtre." A kiss. "Fenêtre." Another kiss. "Fenêtre." Kiss. "Fenêtre." Yes, another kiss. "Fenêtre." And another one.

[vineleaves]

"Even better," Dionysus says when he gets a ...window... of opportunity.

[futaille]

"Fenêtre, fenêtre?" He grins. "Fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre."

[vineleaves]

He goes back to snuggling up against Grantaire's chest, slowly rubbing his hands up and down Grantaire's back.

[futaille]

A happy little sigh. He almost wants to just curl up against Dionysus right now, but he's committed. "Fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre."

[vineleaves]

There's nothing in the rules about not being allowed to snuggle on the bed while the windowening is happening, so Dionysus gently walks Grantaire over to it.

[futaille]

That sounds absolutely perfect. He goes along with Dionysus. "Fenêtre! Fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre. Fenêtre."

[vineleaves]

Their bed has enough pillows (because of course it does) that when they lean against them they're half-laying half-sitting, and Dionysus wraps his arms around Grantaire big spoon style.

[futaille]

He leans back comfortably against Dionysus, tracing Dionysus's hands with his fingertips as he speaks softly. "Fenêtre, fenêtre, fenêtre, fenêtre, fenêtre..."

[vineleaves]

He sighs happily.

[futaille]

His smile widens just a bit. "Fenêtre, fenêtre fenêtre fenêtre.
