Open Post: Who invented this calendar anyway?

How unfortunate.

Yes, Grantaire was fully aware that the year being longer at the mansion would logically cause seasons to drift when someone kept track of the old calendar, or at least what had been pinned down as the old calendar for convenience sake, which was almost necessary when people's arrivals weren't necessarily tied to the day they left. He hadn't given it too much thought last year, when his birthday, such that it was, arrived in spring like he was used to.

Dark, though, was unfortunate. Not inappropriate for the next notable anniversary coming up, but for this one, not at all. Of course, it wasn't as if he would have been planning much in the way of an event, Dark or no, but it would have been nice to treat himself to something or other, regardless.

Instead, he has installed himself in the game room, where he is carefully balancing dominoes on their ends to make a domino rally on the billiards table. It's a nice large flat surface, so it should work nicely. Have to keep entertained somehow.

"Mmhm. But I know, I know. Perfect for you."

[vineleaves]

"Exactly," he smiles, then catches Grantaire in another kiss.

[futaille]

He kisses back with a little smile. "I do learn eventually."

[vineleaves]

"Good. Everyone ought to know how special you are to me, including yourself." He hates that this month is affecting his powers so much. What he really wants to do right now is go in Grantaire's mind and let him feel exactly how loved he is, but even if he hadn't already exhausted himself today, he doesn't trust his weakened state enough to go messing around in someone's mind this month.

That would undoubtedly be more than a little bit overwhelming and possibly lead to tears, so it's almost better for Grantaire's dignity this way. "It's an honor."

Another kiss, and then, "Alright, you have to show me how to be good at pinball now."

[futaille]

"As luck would have it, you happen to be talking to the man with the high score."

[vineleaves]

“Oh wonderful, wonderful, I was hoping you’d be up to the task. I can be very hard to instruct at times, you know. I might need hours of careful study.”

[futaille]

"Oh, hours, you say."

[vineleaves]

"Yes, I'm a very terrible student."

[futaille]

"Well, I'll be sure to work you as long and hard as needed."

[vineleaves]

"I'm starting to think it's my birthday instead," he laughs.

[futaille]

"Who knows? It might be!"

[vineleaves]

"You're not wrong, it definitely could be."

[futaille]

"Any good day can be your birthday."

[vineleaves]

"I'm not stealing yours though."

[futaille]

"If you say so. All right. Let's get to your... instruction."

[vineleaves]

"Of course of course. You'll have to help me get into position. I simply don't know what I'm doing at all here."

[futaille]

Oh, so we're actually doing this. "Of course." He gives Dionysus one quick kiss before taking him by the shoulders and moving him over to in front of the pinball machine.

[vineleaves]

"Ah yes, I can see how standing here would help me be better at the game."

[futaille]

"Exactly." He takes Dionysus's left hand and puts it on the front of the cabinet. "Right here is the button you push to turn on... the machine."

[vineleaves]

"Oh, well I am very good at turning things on by playing with their buttons, maybe there's hope for me yet."

[futaille]

"Prior experience. Excellent. How about playing with little balls?"

[vineleaves]

"Would you believe it, I've actually got a lot of experience with that too."

[futaille]

"That's fortunate! Press the start button and it will queue some up for you."
