Open Post: Who invented this calendar anyway?

How unfortunate.

Yes, Grantaire was fully aware that the year being longer at the mansion would logically cause seasons to drift when someone kept track of the old calendar, or at least what had been pinned down as the old calendar for convenience sake, which was almost necessary when people's arrivals weren't necessarily tied to the day they left. He hadn't given it too much thought last year, when his birthday, such that it was, arrived in spring like he was used to.

Dark, though, was unfortunate. Not inappropriate for the next notable anniversary coming up, but for this one, not at all. Of course, it wasn't as if he would have been planning much in the way of an event, Dark or no, but it would have been nice to treat himself to something or other, regardless.

Instead, he has installed himself in the game room, where he is carefully balancing dominoes on their ends to make a domino rally on the billiards table. It's a nice large flat surface, so it should work nicely. Have to keep entertained somehow.

“Monopoly is a game where you’re definitely winning if you lose quickly and get to stop playing the game,” he laughs.

"Oh, that tedious?"

[vineleaves]

“The point of the game is to buy squares that represent property with fake money, and then charge people rent if they land on your square. That’s it, that’s the whole game. And games last for hours.”

"Who wants to pretend to be a landlord?"

[vineleaves]

“Apparently a lot of people, at least they think they do. It’s a very popular game unfortunately.” Speaking of games, the pinball falls down between the flippers.

He watches the ball drop. "One left!"

[vineleaves]

"I'm going to try to actually do well this time," he says as he sends the last ball into play.

[futaille]

He promptly rests his chin on Dionysus's shoulder to watch.

[vineleaves]

He leans into Grantaire a bit, but does actually try to do well like he said. The ball bounces around for a little while until it shoots straight down, directly in the middle of the flippers where neither one can reach it to stop it from falling. "Oh hey, second place."

[futaille]

Grantaire laughs and turns his head to kiss Dionysus's cheek. "A valiant effort!"

"It is probably the longest game of pinball I've ever had." That's not saying much though.

[futaille]

"We'll put it down to my impeccable instruction."

[vineleaves]

"Oh, that goes without saying."

[futaille]

"Congratulations on second place."

[vineleaves]

"Is there a prize for second place?"

[futaille]

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I can think of something."

[vineleaves]

"Did you have something in mind?" he asks, trailing his hands up Grantaire's torso to rest on his shoulders.

[futaille]

"Oh, I have an idea or two."

[vineleaves]

"I can't wait to find out what they are."

[futaille]

"Then let me just show you." He then proceeds to demonstrate a fair few of his ideas. If you know what I mean.

[vineleaves]

"I love you," he says breathlessly, pulling Grantaire up into a deep kiss.

A laugh. "I love you too."

[vineleaves]

"D'you want to play your game again, or shall we go find something else to do?"

[futaille]

"There will be plenty of time to play with it later."

[vineleaves]

"I wish it wasn't too cold for us to go on a walk outside together."
