Open Post: Who invented this calendar anyway?

How unfortunate.

Yes, Grantaire was fully aware that the year being longer at the mansion would logically cause seasons to drift when someone kept track of the old calendar, or at least what had been pinned down as the old calendar for convenience sake, which was almost necessary when people's arrivals weren't necessarily tied to the day they left. He hadn't given it too much thought last year, when his birthday, such that it was, arrived in spring like he was used to.

Dark, though, was unfortunate. Not inappropriate for the next notable anniversary coming up, but for this one, not at all. Of course, it wasn't as if he would have been planning much in the way of an event, Dark or no, but it would have been nice to treat himself to something or other, regardless.

Instead, he has installed himself in the game room, where he is carefully balancing dominoes on their ends to make a domino rally on the billiards table. It's a nice large flat surface, so it should work nicely. Have to keep entertained somehow.

He gives Grantaire a kiss. "Ooh! Ooh oh so what food should we have at the party?"

[futaille]

"I think the more important question is what food should we not have at the party."

[vineleaves]

"That's an excellent point." He writes down EVERY food and underlines it.

"We may have to abridge the list slightly for space concerns."

[vineleaves]

"Nah, we'll just get some shelves to put things on," he says, trying his hardest not to grin or laugh. "It'll be fine."

"Extraordinarily high shelves. Perfect plan."

[vineleaves]

"We can get one of the rolling ladders from the library."

[futaille]

"Ingenious!"

[vineleaves]

"Ooh what if we have a taco bar?"

[futaille]

"That definitely falls under the auspices of every food."

[vineleaves]

"Good point!" He laughs, and leans over to give Grantaire another kiss.

[futaille]

"I do have those occasionally, yes."

[vineleaves]

"Often," he says, reflexively at this point. "I need to get a nicer notebook for this, hopefully the mansion will cooperate tomorrow and get me a nice notebook to plan our wedding in, even though it's Dark."

"Oh, does a better notebook mean a better wedding? I'm unfamiliar with that truism."

[vineleaves]

"An important thing requires an important notebook to plan it in, obviously," he says with a laugh.

[futaille]

"How can you tell the difference between an important notebook and an unimportant notebook? I need to know the specifics if I'm to help you look."

[vineleaves]

"If I look at it and think 'ah, this is an important notebook', then it is important."

[futaille]

"What if the cover says 'Important Notebook'? Does that sway your judgment or are there other factors that weigh more heavily?"

[vineleaves]

"Depends on the font, I think."

[futaille]

"If you were to find the perfect important notebook, what would it look like?"

[vineleaves]

"I'm thinking maybe some gold foil designs on the cover."

[futaille]

"Oh, that definitely sounds important."

[vineleaves]

"It needs to be pretty, you know."

[futaille]

He bats his eyelashes coquettishly. "Because I'm pretty?"
