Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

"Unconstitutionally."

[vineleaves]

"It's not my fault you have such a nice butt, I don't know what you expect from me."

"Delightedly."

[futaille]

He laughs and peers down over his shoulder as best he can. "Do I?"

[sagramore]

"Orgiastically."

[futaille]

"Sagramorically."

[sagramore]

"Erratically," pronouncing it r-ratically.

[futaille]

He sweeps an exaggerated bow. "You win."

[sagramore]

"My thanks." He aims a not particularly serious kick at Grantaire's calf.

[futaille]

He turns and lifts his leg to avoid it. "Of course."

[sagramore]

Sagramore laughs and this time he begins making more of a concerted effort to start kickboxing with Grantaire.

[vineleaves]

"Yes."

[futaille]

Grantaire returns the effort, then, although moving a bit more slowly and telegraphing his moves more than he normally would.

[futaille]

"Why thank you!"

[lightbearinglord]

"But there is some technique," Lan Wangji points out. "You are not merely brawling."

[sagramore]

This is quite enough for Sagramore to adapt to him. It's like dancing, and before long he's comfortably matching Grantaire.

[vineleaves]

"Did you honestly not know I like your butt? I have been shirking my duties then."

[futaille]

"True enough. Well, it's kick-heavy, probably because of its origin on ships which meant the sailors sometimes would have to hold on to things for balance..."

[futaille]

And as that happens, Grantaire speeds up his fighting.

[futaille]

"You hardly neglect it, don't worry."

[vineleaves]

"Well that's a relief. I wouldn't dream of neglecting it."

[futaille]

"I just assumed you were biased, though."

[lightbearinglord]

"Will you show me?" Lan Wangji asks, then amends: "More slowly, with explanations."

[futaille]

"Certainly." He goes back to the bag and starts to do so, explaining what he's doing as he goes.

[sagramore]

So he goes faster in turn, still matching. Thanks to all the work he and Laertes have been doing he has the stamina to keep pace.
