Open Post: La savate et le chausson

Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

"Oh yes. Thank you ever so much."

"Yeah. ...I wish they could go on an actual honeymoon trip."

"They could always take a trip to the exotic other side of the lake."

[vineleaves]

"Plenty of time for Sagramore and Laertes to build them a huge, fancy, all-inclusive resort hotel to stay at over there."

"In truth, you could say we practically live in one already."

[sagramore]

"For a high priest of a sacred religion, thou hadst very few markers of thine office."

[futaille]

"Oh, am I a high priest?"

[sagramore]

"It seems only right. We both are, we both did the ritual and the heaving."

[futaille]

"And we've both been anointed. It's true. High priests we are!"

[vineleaves]

"That's a good point. It's just a very, very long vacation."

[futaille]

"A particularly well-supplied one, most months of the year."

[sagramore]

"Oh, and the oracular activity." He's letting them continue to walk again, but not without a last grope to Grantaire's backside, leaving a handprint impression on his trousers in durian paint.

[vineleaves]

"One month -- terrible, zero out of ten stars. The other eleven? Grea-- wait, how many months do we have here? I forget."

[futaille]

"... Ah yes, the priestly accoutrements." He returns the favor with his own goopiest hand.

[futaille]

"Fourteen. And I'm fairly sure they're all named after victims of the Minotaur."

[sagramore]

Ugh. "Right, the whole thing. We've done a lot for our god."

[vineleaves]

"I did notice the naming convention, just couldn't remember how many it was." Of course he's going to notice something dealing with the Minotaur. "Bit rude of them, don't you think? To name the months that, then bring Ariadne's husband here." But not, you know. Ariadne herself as well.

[futaille]

"Yes. Which means we very much deserve a ritual cleansing."

[futaille]

"For what it's worth, I'm glad they brought you. Even if I know you'd rather be traveling."

[sagramore]

"Will I get to bathe thee again? I'm in favor."

[futaille]

"In that case, we should proceed."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus snuggles into Grantaire again. "I'd rather be traveling with you. If it's a choice between traveling alone again or staying here with you, I'm picking you."

[futaille]

"Oh." He seems a bit stunned by this revelation. "I didn't... well. Good." He clears his throat. "I think it's safe for you to go get snacks now."

[papadopoulos]

"Yeah. The goal is whoever gets the most points wins; there's two baskets, one on either end of the court. One team goes to one, the opposing team tries to stop them and also tries to go to the other."

[kadewest]

"Grantaire, I cut my teeth on the Karate Kid and fairy battlefields," Kade laughs. "All of my frames of reference are off." He settles comfortably but lightly on the balls of his feet, though. "What do I do with my hands?"
