Open Post: La savate et le chausson

Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

"Just swimming around, or like, things turning into fish?"

[futaille]

"Swimming around. Like air fish." He chances opening his eyes a bit but closes them again quickly.

[vineleaves]

Dionysus starts running his fingers through Grantaire's hair again. "That could've been fun too." Unless they were spooky scary deep ocean monster fish, but he doesn't say that out loud.

[futaille]

His thoughts are similar anyway. "That depends on the fish."

[vineleaves]

"It's not uncommon for people to see me glowing," he says, changing the subject away from fishies. "I would've given you warning if I'd thought about it. Sorry, love."

[sagramore]

"Hideous."

[futaille]

He shakes his head. "No apologies needed. It's just the combination of bright and swirly. It's... vertiginous."

[futaille]

"As hideous as we'd like, yes."

[vineleaves]

"Ooh, yeah, I bet."

[sagramore]

"Does Hell have any other notable characteristics besides the fire and such?"

[futaille]

He snuggles up even closer to Dionysus somehow. "But I chose my drink."

[vineleaves]

"Do you feel alright with your eyes closed?"

[futaille]

".... I'm not sure how many other qualities would be easy to transmit visually."

[futaille]

He nods. "I can still see some of it. But it's darker."

[vineleaves]

"Well -- like I said, if it gets worse just let me know, I can make it stop." He lifts Grantaire's chin so that he can give him a slow kiss.

[futaille]

He kisses back, clinging to Dionysus almost helplessly. "It's all right," he murmurs as they part. "As I said, I made the choice."

[sagramore]

"Right, just checking. My memories of Mass are incomplete."

[futaille]

"Oh, it's a great deal of Latin."

[sagramore]

"Any of it meaningful?"

[futaille]

"That depends on how you define meaningful, I suppose. They are words, so in that respect, they have meaning, in that they're not just speaking gibberish."

[vineleaves]

"Doesn't mean you can't change your mind," he says lightly, wrapping his arms more tightly around Grantaire. "But if you're okay then that's all that matters."

[futaille]

"I'm all right." He manages a little laugh, secure as he is in Dionysus's arms. "I've had worse."

[kadewest]

"Oh, don't do me any favors," Kade laughs, following. "Is there an opening stance of some sort?"

[futaille]

"Points aren't awarded for style," he says, amused. "Just be comfortable but ready to move."

[vineleaves]

"Still. Maybe it'll shift soon and change to something more enjoyable." Another kiss.
