Open Post: La savate et le chausson

Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

"Then I'm more than happy to provide you with the opportunity to let you stretch your wings and bring your visions to life."

"It seems... is it gauche to use my own inventory? Gracious, it's just such an astonishing opportunity--"

[futaille]

"Sir, I think that after all this time in the profession, you've more than earned it."

[sagramore]

"Well, if you're certain, then perhaps I'll try my hand."

[futaille]

"Beyond certain. Let's walk together."

[sagramore]

"Very well."

[vineleaves]

“Let me know if anything changes, dear,” he says before taking a sip of his drink.

[futaille]

He nods and, carrying the bottle carefully, starts back toward the mansion.

[futaille]

"Everything is starting to glow," he says, barely above a whisper.

[vineleaves]

“That’s got to be very pretty, I’m sure.” He shifts so he can snuggle a little, wrapping his arm around Grantaire’s shoulders.

[futaille]

He leans against Dionysus, closing his eyes. "It's... a lot."

[sagramore]

Sagramore follows him dutifully, doing a series of silly walks that he immediately stops any time it appears Grantaire might look over his shoulder.

Just hearing the cadence of Sagramore's steps behind him make him fairly certain that something is going on, which of course stops every time he glances backwards. After a bit, he turns around and starts walking backwards, chatting amiably. "What do you think the best thing to put on the door will be?"

[sagramore]

"It's not going to be hellfire?"

[futaille]

"Oh, was that the plan? I had forgotten."

[sagramore]

"I thought it was sort of an invitation to look upon the fate that might befall those who trespass against the durian."

[futaille]

"Ah, yes. Durian hellfire it is."

[vineleaves]

“Is it too much? I can fix it if you need me to,” he says softly. “You know I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you.”

[futaille]

He shakes his head. "You're here, I know I'm safe. I just need a moment."

[vineleaves]

That ‘you’re here, I know I’m safe’ absolutely melts his heart, and he snuggles a little tighter. “Take as much time as you need, love.”

[futaille]

He snuggles close. "Not the hallucinations I was expecting, honestly."

[vineleaves]

“What hallucinations were you expecting?”

[futaille]

"I'm not sure. Fish, maybe?"

[sagramore]

"Just to put people in the right mindset as they pass through the doors."

[futaille]

"Precisely. Sludgy fire awaits."
