Open Post: La savate et le chausson

Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

"I've never felt more like an old man wishing things were like the old days than I do right now."

"Oh, you're never insufficiently pleasing."

"Whereas I'm personally happy not to have to compete in naked combat sports."

"It does sound painful." Dionysus has done many things naked, but combat sports is not one of them. Mostly because he's never done combat sports clothed either.

"Or at least extremely awkward."

[vineleaves]

"Less awkward if everyone else is naked too though."

[papadopoulos]

"Maybe soon it'll be in the Olympics; that'd be neat." There's a beat. "You do know the Olympics, right? I don't think they've started back up for you just yet, but -- they come back. Essentially."

[futaille]

"Depending on who everyone else is."

[futaille]

"I... vaguely think I remember something about that from the day I got switched with another me?"

[vineleaves]

"An excellent point," he laughs.

[futaille]

"I stumble into those on occasion."

[papadopoulos]

He considers this for a moment. "Um. Well, they're going to be in Paris in a few years, I think? That could be it."

[vineleaves]

"Dear, I know you're going to hate to hear this, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you make excellent points a lot of the time, actually. Tragic news, I know."

[futaille]

"Possibly! I think there was something about shitting in the Seine."

[futaille]

"A lot of the time seems like a slight overstatement."

[kadewest]

Kade is still sore from his beloathed morning run. "I know what that's like."

[futaille]

A grin. "So I'm settling for a little out of practice instead."

[vineleaves]

“Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as often as the silly, nonsensical points.”

[sagramore]

"Wait, were we talking about me? I've lost track."

[futaille]

"Oh, that's a relief! Thank you!"

[futaille]

"About something you said, so it follows."

[sagramore]

"I don't know that it does."

[futaille]

"You don't have to know, conveniently. I'll know for both of us."

"I'm gratefully thine."
