Open Post: La savate et le chausson

Much to his satisfaction, Grantaire has been able to keep up with many of his hobbies unabated during his time at the mansion. Not all of them, though, mostly because they were ones he'd go to specific spots for, and with those spots not being here in addition to an abundance of his other hobbies, they more or less fell by the wayside.

However, a recent chat with Dionysus has reminded him that he has very much neglected his 'hitting things' level. Although he didn't find a crash test dummy, the thought being on his mind ended up in him stumbling upon a small gym tucked away, complete with some equipment including a standing punching bag.

So he's discarded his waistcoat and cravat over a bench and is practicing his savate¹.

¹French kickboxing! During R's time it was basically for streetfighting, and just beginning to get formalized, but there are some cool vintage videos on youtube (Here and here) to give the... vibe.

Apollo's life is in absolutely no danger from Grantaire, of all people. "Oh yes. Totally even."

[vineleaves]

"Well, someone has to be. You'd just be sitting here sad and hungry without me," he laughs softly and raises another grape to Grantaire's lips.

[futaille]

"That... is probably a safe assumption."

[futaille]

"I'd starve. It would be tragic." He takes the next grape.

[vineleaves]

"Very tragic. People will tell the tale of Poor Étienne, who suffered such a terrible fate because there was nobody around to feed him any grapes." Dionysus readies the next grape but starts nibbling on Grantaire's neck in the meantime.

[kadewest]

"Ah, well." Kade leans against the wall. "So are there any particular rules to your version of kickboxing?"

[futaille]

He laughs and tilts his head to give Dionysus room, even as he waits for the next grape.

[futaille]

"Not any particularly formal ones. Or, rather, not any formal ones that I ever learned. In the last few years, some people have been trying to regulate it but I don't know what rules they've set."

[vineleaves]

He lifts up the grape but doesn't stop giving Grantaire's neck attention.

[futaille]

He nibbles on it quite contentedly. "Best way to eat grapes, without a doubt."

[sagramore]

"I'm relieved not to be disappointed."

[futaille]

It helps a bit when he has the actual god of wine frequently visiting and bringing presents. "I think a red. They seem more luxurious."

[vineleaves]

"Being fed them by the god of Wine, or being fed them while someone's kissing your neck?" he asks, his mouth barely leaving Grantaire's skin.

[sagramore]

"Very good."

Sagramore sets the pillows down on Grantaire's bed -- one at the head, for him to lounge on, and one at the foot, upon which he places the durian -- and then takes a pack of matches from his pocket to light the candle.

[futaille]

A grin. "Definitely both."

[futaille]

Grantaire opens a bottle and pours a couple of glasses. "The perfect setup, clearly."

[sagramore]

"I'm trying to be a good acolyte."

[futaille]

"The durian god clearly deserves the greatest of acolytes."

[vineleaves]

"I'll feed you grapes whenever you want." He'll also kiss Grantaire's neck whenever he wants as well, but that goes without saying.

[sagramore]

"It does, and I don't want to disappoint it! How does the space feel? Ripe for oracular activity?"

[futaille]

"I have never had as much appreciation for grapes as I have since meeting you. Not to say, of course, that I haven't had any appreciation for grapes, as obviously they have done me many great favors throughout my life. But it's definitely increased recently."

[futaille]

He closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath. "Yes. I think this will do nicely."

[kadewest]

"So you just go hog-wild?"

[futaille]

"Of course not. There are rules, but not formal ones." He pauses. "Well, unless you're in an actual fight, in which case..."

[vineleaves]

Dionysus is genuinely touched by that, and he pulls back enough to be able to look Grantaire in the eyes, one hand reaching up to cup his cheek. "That's -- that's very sweet, thank you, love."
