Now that things have managed to settle down after the havoc of this month's event from the mansion spirits, Grantaire has set his sights on a much more organic event. He did as promised and improved upon Enjolras' early attempt at a flier. It even passed Apollo's judgment and was printed. So now Grantaire is dutifully walking around the mansion with a stack of fliers to post them in whatever public areas he comes across, even venturing outside to hang them up in outbuildings, and enough were printed that there are plenty of extras to be handed out personally if anyone seems curious.

He's of course sure not everyone will come, but the more people do, the more it will seem right, as far as he's concerned, so he's perfectly willing to pitch the event to anyone who seems the least bit amenable to one. Apparently he can stay on task with proper motivation.

"You make a good point," he says agreeably. "Clearly I would have to go to my second option which would be ignoring you entirely." And speaking of things they both know, they both know that would never actually happen.

[untamedantinous]

"Ah, a truly terrible fate." He makes an amused noise and settles back into reading, one hand falling to his lap as he shifts his weight.

[futaille]

He laughs a little and settles in himself, returning his attention to his game as well.

There is silence for a while, Lucien absorbed in his reading and relaxed with the warm weight of Grantaire leaning against his legs. Eventually, perhaps it is unconsciously, his hand drifts towards his knee, where Grantaire is equally absorbed in his game.

Grantaire is very much absorbed in his game. It's an interesting challenge, playing both sides and trying not to let your knowledge of the opposing tiles influence your play. He barely even notices Enjolras' slight movements.

That is alright, because Enjolras is hardly noticing them himself. It’s very similar to he and Courfeyrac studying together at home; they did that often enough that it was truly second nature to give in to Courfeyrac’s absent leans and touches. So it is without another thought that his hand slips a little further down, until it is absently playing with one of Grantaire’s curls.

He stills for a moment at the feel of Enjolras's fingers in his hair, his hand frozen on the piece he just placed. It's just a short moment, though, before he exhales and leans just a bit into the contact, a small soft smile crossing his face as he returns to his game. Fool though he may be, he's not enough of a fool to ruin this by actually bringing attention to it.

“Have you won your game yet?” He asks with some amusement, turning the page in his book. Now that he’s drawn himself out of Balzac, he does notice where his hand is; but he will not draw attention to it either if Grantaire doesn’t.

[futaille]

"Not quite, although I believe I'm on the precipice of it. Or of losing, depending on your perspective, I suppose."

[untamedantinous]

"Well, should I offer congratulations or condolences?" He's grinning at his book, amused.

[futaille]

"Whichever you'd prefer! Or even both. Surprise me."

[untamedantinous]

"I shall, I think, reserve any judgement for the outcome." He is certainly still absently playing with Grantaire's hair, waiting for the end of the game.

[futaille]

His next few moves may not be quite optimal, entirely for the purpose of extending the game, but ultimately, one hand plays its last tile. "And there we have it. Victory. And defeat."

[untamedantinous]

"Mmm." He leans over a little to inspect the dominoes. "I am sorry for your loss, and congratulate you on your win, in that case."

[futaille]

Well, Grantaire is not about to pass up that opportunity. He stretches up a bit to place a quick kiss to the corner of Enjolras' mouth. "Thank you," he says solemnly. "On both counts."

[untamedantinous]

"I am uncertain if a kiss is the proper gift for condolences or congratulations," he replies, just as solemn; but he stretches a little to return the kiss anyway. "Mm. Perhaps I should join you on the floor, this is not very comfortable."

[futaille]

He laughs a little. "What would you say the proper gift is, then? And you are free to join me, although I'm not sure many people would call it comfortable."

[untamedantinous]

"Oh, I do not know. Flowers, perhaps?" He glances at his chair. "Well, you joining me will also not be especially comfortable, this chair is not meant for two."

[futaille]

"Ah, if only I had thought to pick some flowers when I was in the greenhouse. In anticipation for your congratulations and condolences."

[untamedantinous]

"It is a great pity that you cannot predict the future," laughing a little, but he schools himself back to solemnity soon enough.

[futaille]

"I can predict the future in some respects. But it's true, in others I am sorely lacking."

[untamedantinous]

"I suppose you shall have to be content with your kisses, then."

[futaille]

"As luck would have it, I do find myself to be."

[untamedantinous]

"Good." After a moment's pause, he gets up to slide down to the floor, pulling the cushion of the chair with him to settle down on it. "I do think I must congratulate you properly."

[futaille]

Grantaire glances over at him with an amused smile. "Oh, are you giving up on the condolences?" He starts to pick up the dominoes.
