Now that things have managed to settle down after the havoc of this month's event from the mansion spirits, Grantaire has set his sights on a much more organic event. He did as promised and improved upon Enjolras' early attempt at a flier. It even passed Apollo's judgment and was printed. So now Grantaire is dutifully walking around the mansion with a stack of fliers to post them in whatever public areas he comes across, even venturing outside to hang them up in outbuildings, and enough were printed that there are plenty of extras to be handed out personally if anyone seems curious.

He's of course sure not everyone will come, but the more people do, the more it will seem right, as far as he's concerned, so he's perfectly willing to pitch the event to anyone who seems the least bit amenable to one. Apparently he can stay on task with proper motivation.

"Ah, Aleksander! Hello!" He holds out a flier. "Having replicated a café, we've decided next to try to replicate the atmosphere of one. I assure you it can be highly entertaining. Twenty conversations at once among ten people, as I recall saying some time back."

[temnota]

Aleksander examined the flier with interest. "It already sounds more entertaining then any council meeting I have ever attended. And already I am sure there will be much better food."

[futaille]

He laughs. "Better food than most of the venues we held meetings at back home, as well, so it can only enhance the atmosphere."

[temnota]

Aleksander laughed. "Better meetings and better food. I cannot promise to participate but I do promise to be in the audience applauding every clever turn of phrase."

[futaille]

"Excellent. I am far from someone to demand promises, at any rate. Not that I would need to, as your presence alone is sure to enhance the proceedings."

[temnota]

"Oh I doubt that," Aleksander said, amused. "Shadow the proceedings, perhaps. Illumination is not my strength, you see."

[futaille]

He laughs. "Shadows enhance things just as much as light does. The shapes of things don't make much sense without both."

[temnota]

"Indeed," Aleksander said, forcing himself to keep his tone light. This was a friendly conversation and he was not going to ruin it by dwelling (again) on thoughts of Alina. "But people lean one way or the other, do they not? Some rush towards the light and others prefer the quiet of the dark."

[futaille]

"Oh, absolutely," he says. "And having both kinds around makes the world that much more interesting."

[temnota]

"Which are you?" Aleksander asked curiously, a hint of a smile on his face.

[futaille]

"Oh, now that's an interesting question. I'm inclined to say I'm happy in the shadows and gazing at the light, but... I'm also not exactly prone to being quiet. Ever."

[temnota]

Aleksander couldn't help but laugh. "That is something I have noticed in our short acquaintanceship, I will admit."

[futaille]

Grantaire grins cheerfully. "Oh, very astute of you, then. It normally takes quite some time before anyone realizes. I'm unassumingly loud."

[temnota]

"The storm before the calm?" Aleksander teased.

[futaille]

He laughs. "Yes, as long as it's clear that the calm is normally caused by my drinking myself insensible."

[temnota]

Aleksander snorted. "Does the drinking come with the oratory or is that a side effect?"

[futaille]

"Separate phenomenon, but they often enhance one another."

[temnota]

"I see," Aleksander said, very much amused. "You must be planning a virtuoso performance for the debate then?"

[futaille]

And that's a grin. "I will almost certainly be practicing my craft, yes."

[temnota]

"I look forward to witnessing your triumph," Aleksander said, giving Grantaire a grin of his own. "Is applause acceptable or should I be bearing some sort of drink as a tribute?"

[futaille]

He laughs. "Well, I will never turn down a drink, but actually receiving applause might just be so novel that I'm inclined to pick that one."

[temnota]

"Oh? Do people not sufficiently appreciate your genius?" Aleksander shook his head in mock despair. "That is a shame."

[futaille]

"It really is. True visionaries are never appreciated. Such a tragedy." That grin is very much at opposition to his words.

[temnota]

"It is such a common tale," Aleksander commiserated. "Few visionaries are appreciated in their time but I promise you I will listen with bated breath and applaud wildly once your grand speech is done."

[futaille]

"Oh, you do me a great honor, although I do slightly worry on your account for attending to bate your breath for quite that long."
